MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

Each year Sampson-Bladen Oil Co. and Han-Dee Hugo's Convenience Stores, with major sponsorship from CITGO PETROLEUM CORPORATION, host a golf tournament to benefit Muscular Dystrophy. This event, which is a "captains choice" is usually held in early August. Over the past fourteen years this event has raised over $500,000 to benefit those afflicted with this terrible disease.

On October 7, 2008 we had another successful tournament, attracting a full field of 150 golfers and raising over $38,000. The 2010 tournament will be held next October at the Coharie Country Club in Clinton. We have moved the tournament from August to October due to the extreme heat that has occurred during the past years.

You can become involved in this fun event for a wonderful cause as a participant, hole sponsor, and/or contributing prizes for participants. Adding to the fun, golfers receive great ditty bags of goodies, food and beverages, and draw for really nice prizes provided by sponsors.

In addition, our Han-Dee Hugo´s convenience stores raise funds for MDA by selling $1.00 Shamrocks around St. Patrick's Day. In 2008 we raised $43,000 with this endeavor. Come on in our stores and hang up a Shamrock with your name on it!
